historic rails and character amidst the grandeur of the scenery and railway architecture. Part

Featuring locomotives and railcars built prior to 1960 with photographs taken over a period covering 1986 to 2018. Many of these are no longer in service and long since scrapped. The past twenty years in Switzerland has seen much modernisation and very little of the featured

John Beer is a former railway manager and will give an account of his career and recollection of incidents and moments that happened during his career.
John will reminisce about the GWR 150 railtour in 1985 (below), where Hinton Manor failed with a hot box and John then the BR Customer Service Manager went on local television having to give an explanation for the non-appearance of the locomotive.

A journey in November 1975 across northern India taking in a variety of motive power, lines of various gauges and locations ranging from Bombay, New Delhi, Agra, Calcutta and the railway wonder of the world which is the Darjeeling-Himalaya line, finishing with a look at the scene in parts of Thailand.
