Monday June 13 – Omen Beam Peat Tramway
A walk over moorland following part of the tramway that served a Naptha Works adjacent to Dartmoor Prison. Meet: 7.00 p.m.
Directions: B3357 roadside between Rundlestone and Two bridges From Plymouth take the A386 to Yelverton and then the B3212 to Princetown. Entering Princetown turn left at the mini-roundabout and take the B3357 past the Prison; at the junction with the Tavistock to Dartmeet (Two Bridges) road turn right and after about 150 yds park where possible on roadside verge. This walk is over rough tracks and open moorland.
Monday July 4 – Fatherford Tramway
A walk along the old tramway from Okehampton Station to Fatherford Viaduct. Meet: 7.00 p.m at Okehampton Station. This walk follows a gravel path down to the old quarries below the viaduct.
Monday July 18 – Dewerstone Tramway An exploration of the Dewerstone Tramway.
Meet: 7.00 p.m. Goodameavy Bridge.
Directions: From Plymouth take the A386 towards Yelverton. Once past the “Dartmoor Diner” and on Roborough Down take second right towards Clearbrook and then second right (immediately after crossing the old leat) to Goodameavy, at the bottom of the hill turn left under the railway bridge and park where convenient. This walk is mainly along paths.
Monday August 8 – Willsworthy Military Target Railways
A visit to explore some the current and former military target railways on Willsworthy firing range. Meet: 7.00 p.m. Willsworth Ranges carpark.
Directions: From Plymouth take A386 to Tavistock and on towards Okehampton. About 3 miles north of Mary Tavy there is a small carpark on right-hand side of the road. Part of the walk will be over moorland.
