With our friends the Plym Valley Railway sharing the news of their latest acquisition, Class 142 unit 142023. Here we see the very same unit 142023 on the 12th October 1987 at Hallon Crossing on the Par - Newquay line. Many thanks to Bernard Mills for sharing this image from his archive. For the first time in over 50 years Bernard Mills is unfortunately unable to present his annual "Mills Photographic Year" due to the pandemic which is currently preventing meetings. For the last few years Bernard has ended his shows with images from the Plym Valley Railway Santa Trains, so without disappointing here are this years. Taken on the first day of Santa Trains, Sunday 6th December 2020.
The next three Zoom Meetings have now been confirmed and are listed in the Meetings Programme section. Please note that these are online and we are not meeting in person at St Edwards Church Hall.
If you are a non-member and would like to join the meeting please email our Zoom organiser, Jeremy on [email protected] Last night was the PRC first public Zoom meeting, which after a few technical issues was a resounding success. 26 participants enjoyed "Dresden Delights" presented by the PRC's magazine editor, Richard Green.
The talk centered around Richard's travels with the Basingstoke Railway Society visit to Dresden in April 2018, with the trip starting off in neighboring Prague with the group catching the train to Dresden. We were then treated to a variety of Trams, Diesel and Steam trains which included a visit to Dollnitzbahn. Due to our meeting being restricted to an hour that was the first part of Richard's talk, part 2 will follow in the near future. We thank Richard for an excellent presentation and for being our very first virtual speaker. We hope to hold another Zoom meeting before Christmas and have a number of speakers lined up to give talks. Further details will be posted once our next speaker is confirmed. We are very pleased to announce our first online Zoom meeting on Monday 30th November 2020 at 7:30pm.
PRC member Richard Green presents "Dresden Delights" - Richard gives a digital account of his 2018 travels with the Basingstoke group. There's steam aplenty, both standard and narrow gauge, plus trams, funiculars and other oddities as well as a generous variety of diesels, electrics and units on Czech and German main lines. If you would like to attend this meeting please either use our contact form or express your interest by email to [email protected] The Zoom details will be emailed out by the end of Sunday evening. We look forward to as many people joining us for the first meeting of the season. The PRC committee has made the decision to suspend all meetings inline with the current government guidelines for group meetings until the restrictions are lifted.
